Understanding Mental Health

Friday, October 12 - Sunday, October 14, 2018 | The Land, Philo, California

In honor of World Mental Health Day, this weekend-long immersion will provide a big picture view of why mental health is in decline and what can be done about it. You’ll learn from nonprofit leaders, culture makers, academics, and entrepreneurs throughout the weekend. Topics we’ll cover include:

The Global State of Mental Health | Understanding the Stigma Surrounding Mental Health and How to Address It | The State of Men’s Mental Health with Evryman | How Culture Makes Social Change and How to Use Art to Reduce Stigma | The Role of Government in Mental Health and Where Both Sides Sit on the Issue | How @SadGirlsClub is Using Social Media and Community to Create Emotional Support and Reduce Stigma | Understanding How to Use Your Skills, Talents, Passions and Assets to Make Change | How to Reclaim the Eternal, Grief-Soaked Majesty of the Feminine

Attendees will convene over talks in the flower garden, engage in lively debates during picnics on the lawn, and brainstorm over s’mores at the campfire. You’ll meet other people who care about improving mental health and digest what you’re learning during daily yoga, meditation, hikes into ancient redwoods, and river swims.
