Founder and CEO of Happily
Sarah Shewey is a pioneer woman of the experience economy. She is the Founder & CEO of Happily, the first nationwide network of freelance event planners. The team at Happily has helped clients like Airbnb, SpaceX, H&M and loads of stressed out brides pull off some of their most ambitious events.
As one of the first few people to work at the TED conferences after they took their talks online, she co-founded TEDActive - an experimental place for artists, TEDx organizers, educators, and entrepreneurs to incubate new distribution models for ideas worth spreading. Sarah is also the founder of EXP - a gathering of the world’s most iconic experience producers to share best practices and the co-founder of The Margin, which makes space for people of color at gatherings everywhere.
An environmentalist, Sarah has spoken about the importance of sustainable event practices on NPR and publications around the world. She also co-invented the world’s first underwater projector.
In her spare time between family dinners and birthday celebrations of her loved ones, Sarah helps her friends build their communities. She serves as the board president of dublab.com, “the world’s best Internet radio station” according to The Guardian. She is also an advisor to MAKE IT IN LA, Mayor Garcetti’s initiative to create the nation’s largest community of product makers and manufacturers and The What List, a clever list for curious people.
